Volvo's
XC90 T8 SUV is a technical marvel, attempting to be (pretty much) everything to
everybody, and, shockingly, succeeding at it. With a gorgeous, elegant body and
proportions, an interior with attention to detail typically found in cars more
expensive, a unique design ethos that makes Ze Germans seem confused, and an
extremely advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain, the XC90 is a fascinating daily
driver. It's got 20 miles or so of EV-only range, but then a twin-charged
four-cylinder gas engine that, while moving the car, can also recharge the
onboard batteries. It's got the best seats in the business, and is a wonderful
place to spend your time. Volvo Cars USA provided the vehicle, insurance, and a
tank of fuel for this review.
