Recently we celebrated 70 years of Volvo Cars presence in the United
States and 10 years since we broke ground in Charleston, South Carolina. Like
our manufacturing plants in Europe and China, our Volvo Car Charleston Plant
helps us tailor our products to regional customer demands and build where we
sell as much as possible. The plant currently builds two car models, including
our fully electric EX90 flagship SUV.
We are continuing to significantly invest in our US plant, and now, we
are thrilled to reveal a major expansion: before 2030, our South Carolina
facility will add production of a new, next-generation hybrid model designed
specifically to meet the evolving demands of the American market. This
commitment is a key pillar of our increased focus on regional manufacturing and
ensures we are building the vehicles our US customers want, closer to home.
This exciting announcement also builds upon our successful plans from
earlier this year, where we confirmed that South Carolina will also begin
production of our best-selling XC60 SUV, further solidifying the plant's
crucial role in our global strategy.
